23 Lamezia Terme to Rome - by train

Today we left Lamezia Terme behind, and headed on to our last leg of the trip - back to Rome. We got to the train station early so that we could turn in our rental car - only they were closed. We killed time at a local coffee haunt until Hertz finally opened, turned the car in, and headed into the terminal - only to wait and wait, for a late train to Rome. Once on board, we settled into our seats for the next 8 hours and watched the weather and scenery change as we headed north. Most of the images in this gallery are through the train window by our seat as the world flashed by - rain-streaked window and all. Finally back in Rome, we celebrated with a burger and ice cream. What could be better!
