Scranton Lace Factory

Collection of images shot on 11/5/17. Scranton Lace Factory - originally named the Scranton Lace Curtain Manufacturing Company was established in 1891, and closed its doors in 2002. At one time, the company employed over 1,200 people, and was the largest lace manufacturing company in the world. During WW II, the company also produced parachutes and camoflage netting. Buildings and Bridges

The Scranton Lace Factory at one point was 700,000+ square feet, spread over three buildings. (I must admit, I've heard varying sizes to over 1 million square feet). Buildings are connected by bridge tunnels. © John Schiller Photography

  • Wooden floors have buckled wildly, and ceiling tiles collapsed to the floor - all due to substantial water damage.

  • Floors are coverred with all manner of debris - including broken glass and what was once green carpet (or is that mold?)

  • Look closely. This room has lots of water on the floor. What looks like floor joists is in fact ceiling joints reflecting in the water on the floor.
