Also known as the Chirstmas Star - Jupiter and Saturn came within 450 Million miles of each other. The last time they were this close and so visible to those on earth was in the 1200's. Last night (12/22/20), attempted a re-shoot the Great Conjunction. Sunset where I am was about 4:15. Weather - solid clouds. I waited nearly an hour for the clouds to open up, when Jupiter and Saturn started to rise above the cloud layer. Finally - a series of images. Wish I could see Saturn's rings clearly. However, four of Jupiter's moons were visible; Europa, Ganymede, Lo and Callisto. Shot at 400 MM, F9, 1/10 sec, ISO 1600 - multiple images combined for final result. ยฉJohn Schiller Photography

163/365 Over the course of more than 4 hours, we had a spectacularly unique astrological show in the early morning hours of June 24, 2022. Five of our solar systemโs planets - Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn - in the eastern skies off Cape Cod in their order of the solar system, left to right - with our moon (the brightest object in the sky) โstanding inโ for Earth! In this image, Mercury is not yet visible (lost in the sunrise) and Saturn is not included because of the huge distance between Jupiter and Saturn. A 14mm lens simply could not capture the breadth of it all!
