163/365 Over the course of more than 4 hours, we had a spectacularly unique astrological show in the early morning hours of June 24, 2022. Five of our solar system’s planets - Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn - aligned in the eastern skies off Cape Cod in their order of the solar system, left to right - with our moon (the brightest object in the sky) “standing in” for Earth! In this image, Mercury is not yet visible (lost in the sunrise) and Saturn is not included because of the huge distance between Jupiter and Saturn. A 14mm lens simply could not capture the breadth of it all!
Christmas Sunset Over Shenango Reservoir #3
From pale yellows to deep reds, sunset paints a beautiful swath across the Western Pennsylvania sky. 15 minutes past sunset 12/25/19. ©John Schiller Photography sunset 12/25/19. ©John Schiller Photography
Almost supermoon rise over the frozen Allegheny River - in slowed traffic on the last night of 2017, as we were driving across the Fort Duquesne Bridge. I cannot explain why all levels of the Gulf Tower weather beacon (peeking out from behind the right girder) were magenta that night - unless reflecting the evening's colors.
